East Street Water Treatment Plant / PFAS Treatment Project
Construction of upgrades and improvements to the East Street Water Treatment Plant (WTP) for the removal of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) will begin this coming fall. The East Street WTP is located along Hop Brook, northwest of the Ephraim Curtis Middle School. The Project is financed by the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust through the State Revolving Fund program. The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program is administered by MassDEP with joint funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Massachusetts. Completion of this project will result in the removal PFAS compounds from Sudbury’s public drinking water system for the benefit of Sudbury residents and businesses. The Federally funded programs operate around the country to provide states and communities the resources necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources nationwide.
